Biogas Lagoons

Biogas lagoons are specialized storage areas designed to facilitate the anaerobic (oxygen-free) decomposition of organic waste, enabling the production of biogas. These lagoons are specifically engineered to prevent the release of harmful gases into the environment and to efficiently collect biogas.

Geosynthetic Products Used and Their Functions:

  • Geomembrane: Provides liquid and gas impermeability, preventing waste from leaking into the environment.
  • Geotextile: Ensures filtration and drainage, offers mechanical protection, and regulates ground movements.
  • Geosynthetic Clay Liner (GCL): Reinforced with bentonite clay, this material provides additional sealing.
  • Geocell: Increases load-bearing capacity and stabilizes the ground.
  • Geogrid: Strengthens soil and fill materials.
  • Geonet: Facilitates drainage and water discharge.
  • Geocomposite: Combines different geosynthetics to integrate impermeability and drainage features.

The integrated use of these products ensures that biogas lagoons are safe, environmentally friendly, and long-lasting. The selection of products and combinations depends on the project's technical requirements and site conditions.
